This blog is a convenient way to keep you updated on the progress of Hearts of Haiti's projects. Our current focus is at "L'Orfelinat L'Enfant de L'Espoir" (O.E.E.)- a group of orphans that we found living in tents near Leogane, Haiti last June. We are now building a school called "L'Espoir de Haiti" for the children at the orphanage and the neighboring tent city.

Bernard
Meet Bernard. He lost his leg, both of his parents, and his house in the earthquake. New Life was able to help him get a prosthetic leg, but since he's over 18, they can't help him with much else. He has been sleeping in a makeshift shelter on his property since the earthquake, but it leaks when it rains. I brought a one-man tent when I came down, because they weren't sure if they'd have a bed available for me. Turns out that they did have a bed for me so Bernard now has a new tent to keep him dry. He'll also be applying for a spot at "The Center for Job Creation" when we open that in September.
