Meet Bernard. He lost his leg, both of his parents, and his house in the earthquake. New Life was able to help him get a prosthetic leg, but since he's over 18, they can't help him with much else. He has been sleeping in a makeshift shelter on his property since the earthquake, but it leaks when it rains. I brought a one-man tent when I came down, because they weren't sure if they'd have a bed available for me. Turns out that they did have a bed for me so Bernard now has a new tent to keep him dry. He'll also be applying for a spot at "
The Center for Job Creation" when we open that in September.
