Orphanage # 1

There are 21 orphanages around Leogane, a city of about 100,000. Sustain Haiti has three different orphanages that they volunteer at. They help them plant a garden, teach them some English, but most importantly, they play with the kids and give them lots of attention. At this orphanage, the kids were beautiful (or course) but they had no structure, learning, or discipline. It's sad to see orphanages, but it's even sadder to see poorly run orphanages where the kids aren't learning what they should be and aren't being loved by someone, at the very least an orphanage director.

It felt like I had Hazel and Olive in my arms and my heart didn't ache for them for a few minutes...
Could you be any more innocent and beautiful?

Stephanie always supplied us with the fun games she learned while a coordinator for O.S.S.O. in Ecuador for six months. We talked a lot about how cool it would be to have a volunteer program in Haiti similar to OSSO's.

What a wonderful work you are doing in Haiti. I would love to volunteer when such program is instituted. As a matter of fact, I would love to help out in any way I can.
